8 hours to NVIDIA GTC, Smart money is moving
Three market expectations and why Wall Street is bullish
All eyes are on San Jose tonight. NVIDIA's GTC 2026, dubbed the "AI Super Bowl", is hours away, and markets are already moving ahead of Jensen Huang's keynote.
Storage stocks led the premarket charge: SanDisk up 3.8%, Micron up 2.8%, Hong Kong chip and semiconductor names following suit. NVIDIA itself closed up 1% in after-hours trading.
What markets are watching
1. A "world-shocking" new chip
AI workloads are shifting fast from training to inference and the cost of running large models at scale remains the single biggest barrier to enterprise adoption.
NVIDIA is expected to unveil a new chip architecture optimized for inference and agentic AI, potentially a low-power language processing unit (LPU) design in the vein of Groq, built to dramatically cut the cost per token. If it delivers, it reframes the return on investment (ROI) conversation for every enterprise AI buyer.
2. Vera Rubin launching ahead of schedule
One of the market's biggest concerns has been the gap between chip generations. Supply chain signals suggest Vera Rubin is already in mass production – earlier than expected. That execution removes a key overhang, locks in two years of forward revenue, and justifies NVIDIA's current valuation multiple.
3. Feynman – the architecture beyond Rubin
Looking further out, NVIDIA is expected to preview the Feynman architecture, designed for gigawatt-scale AI factories. As AI infrastructure scales to handle massive concurrent agentic and physical AI workloads, data transmission and power consumption become the defining constraints. Feynman is built to address both.
Where Wall Street stands
With NVIDIA trading around $180, major banks have clustered their price targets well above current levels:
Tigress Financial: $360 (highest on Wall Street), citing NVIDIA's unassailable full-stack AI infrastructure dominance
Cantor Fitzgerald, Bank of America, Wedbush: $300, pointing to hyperscaler capital expenditure and inference cost advantages
JPMorgan: $265, and Morgan Stanley: $260, focused on supply chain execution and the Blackwell-to-Rubin transition
The counterpoint worth noting: some analysts flag the risk of expectations being priced in too aggressively, and the long-term pressure of hyperscalers building their own silicon. "Buy the rumor, sell the news" is a real pattern around GTC.
How to trade the volatility
GTC has historically been a major catalyst for NVIDIA's stock price – in both directions. With shares at elevated absolute levels and headline risk running high, tokenized stock contracts offer a more flexible way to position around the event.
Whether the keynote triggers a breakout or a post-announcement pullback, you can trade NVDA using USDT or USDC directly from your wallet, 24/7.
