Q: What is the Purpose of Cero?

The purpose of Cero is to provide a decentralized, modular sequencing layer that enables rollups to achieve higher security, better interoperability, and additional revenue streams through shared sequencing.

Q: How Can I Participate in Cero's Ecosystem?

Users can participate by joining the Lotus Testnet, operating a sequencer node, or engaging in the governance community via Discord and Telegram to earn potential early adopter rewards.

Q: What Sets Cero Apart from Competitors?

Unlike centralized sequencers, Cero offers a hybrid model that supports both public and permissioned configurations, allowing rollups to maintain data privacy while benefiting from decentralized security.

Q: What are the Risks Associated with Cero?

Risks include the typical volatility of early-stage crypto assets and technical risks associated with new testnet deployments. These are managed through rigorous auditing and a phased rollout strategy.

What is Cero?

Cero is a decentralized hybrid sequencing network designed for both public and permissioned rollups (L2/L3). Its primary mission is to resolve the fragmentation and centralization issues currently facing Layer 2 ecosystems by providing a universal transaction layer that unifies liquidity and security across multiple blockchain environments.

How Does Cero Work?

The platform functions as a decentralized sequencer that abstracts transaction processing from individual rollups. It allows rollups to register on its network, where Cero's RPC nodes submit transactions to a decentralized sequencer. Cero then batches these transactions, stores data in its ledger, and submits them to the rollup's preferred Data Availability (DA) layer while publishing hashes to Layer 1.

What Makes Cero Unique?

Cero is unique due to its 'Super-System' architecture, which allows rollups to earn sequencing rewards not just from their own transactions but from the entire network. It offers high configurability, allowing developers to choose settlement layers (like Ethereum, Polygon, or zkSync) and DA layers (like Celestia or Near), while also supporting native token staking for enhanced economic flexibility.

Who Are the Founders of Cero?

Cero was developed by a team of blockchain infrastructure experts, including Sankalp Sharma, who also serves as the VP of Engineering at Zeeve. The founding team focuses on enterprise-grade no-code blockchain automation and modular infrastructure, bringing extensive experience in decentralized sequencing and rollup interoperability.

What Key Events Have There Been for Cero?

A major milestone for the project was the launch of the Cero Lotus Testnet in February 2025, which introduced early access for developers to test decentralized sequencing. Additionally, Cero has successfully integrated with major ecosystems like Ethereum, Polygon, and Arbitrum to provide cross-rollup interoperability.

Project Announcements

Recent updates include the introduction of 'Carbon Credit Analytics' within its broader ecosystem and the announcement of a modular security model designed to protect rollups against harmful MEV (Maximal Extractable Value) such as sandwich attacks.
