Q: What is the Purpose of b402?

The primary goal of b402 is to provide an open, on-chain payment standard that extends the HTTP 402 Payment Required status code into a programmable settlement layer for AI agents and web services on the BNB Chain.

Q: How Can I Participate in b402's Ecosystem?

Developers and service providers can integrate b402 to enable programmatic, per-request, or usage-based payments. This involves setting up a server or seller service and configuring it to interact with the b402 facilitator for payment verification and settlement.

Q: What Sets b402 Apart from Competitors?

b402 differentiates itself by offering agent-to-agent payments with native crypto primitives, low-fee micropayments without custodians, integrated identity through ERC-8004, and BNB-native deployment with EVM compatibility.

Q: What are the Risks Associated with b402?

As with any blockchain-based protocol, potential risks include smart contract vulnerabilities, reliance on the facilitator's security, and the evolving regulatory landscape affecting crypto payments. b402 mitigates these risks through open-source development, audits, and community engagement.

What is b402?

b402 is an open protocol for internet-native payments on the BNB Chain, extending the HTTP 402 Payment Required standard into a programmable settlement layer for AI agents and web services. It enables instant, verifiable payments, identity verification, and service access without intermediaries, accounts, or manual steps.

How Does b402 Work?

b402 operates by allowing services to require payment or identity proof before responding to a request. When a client requests a resource, the service responds with a 402 Payment Required status and b402-formatted payment instructions. The client then sends a payment payload to the b402 facilitator for settlement. Once verified, the server releases the requested resource.

What Makes b402 Unique?

b402 stands out by providing seamless agent-to-agent payments using native crypto primitives, enabling low-fee micropayments and usage-based monetization without custodians. It integrates identity through ERC-8004 for verified agent transactions and is BNB-native with compatibility toward EVM.

Who Are the Founders of b402?

b402 is initiated and maintained by Vistara Labs, an internet agent execution layer. Vistara Labs was selected for Binance Labs' sixth season incubation program in September 2023 and completed its Pre-Seed round of financing in November 2023, led by D1 Ventures and Factor.
