Q: What is the Purpose of Basilica?

The primary goal of Basilica is to provide a decentralized, trustless, and cost-effective marketplace for high-performance GPU compute power.

Q: How Can I Participate in Basilica's Ecosystem?

Users can participate by providing GPU resources as a miner, validating hardware as a validator, or using the CLI/API to purchase compute power for AI tasks.

Q: What Sets Basilica Apart from Competitors?

Unlike centralized clouds, Basilica uses the Bittensor incentive layer to ensure miners are fairly rewarded and users receive verified hardware performance through cryptographic attestation.

Q: What are the Risks Associated with Basilica?

Risks include market volatility of the SN39 token, potential technical bugs in the distributed CLI, and the inherent risks of participating in the early-stage decentralized AI sector.

What is Basilica?

Basilica (SN39) is a decentralized compute layer and high-performance GPU marketplace built as a subnet on the Bittensor network. It is designed to bridge the gap between GPU providers (miners) and users requiring massive computational power for AI-driven tasks such as model inference, training, and agent execution.

How Does Basilica Work?

The project operates as a decentralized marketplace where GPU providers bid to fulfill compute jobs. Users interact with the network through simple CLI commands like 'basilica up' or API integrations. The protocol uses a verification layer where validators ensure the quality and reliability of the hardware through direct SSH-based attestation and cryptographic checks.

What Makes Basilica Unique?

Basilica is unique for its vertical integration within the Bittensor ecosystem, working alongside subnets like Templar (SN3) and Grail (SN81) to provide a full-stack AI development pipeline. It offers developer-native infrastructure that allows users to 'summon' compute power instantly, often at costs significantly lower than centralized cloud providers due to its competitive bidding model.

Who Are the Founders of Basilica?

Basilica was developed by Covenant Labs, a research and development team specialized in decentralized AI infrastructure. The team is led by the creators of Templar (SN3), who have extensive expertise in distributed computing and large language model (LLM) pre-training within the Bittensor ecosystem.
