Facet enhances security by eliminating centralized control points common in other rollups. Transactions are sequenced by Ethereum validators, and the use of a native gas token removes the need for canonical bridges. Additionally, the protocol's code is immutable, and upgrades require social consensus, further bolstering security.

Q: What is the Purpose of Facet?

Facet aims to provide an Ethereum scaling solution that is fully decentralized and maintains 100% uptime. By leveraging Ethereum's consensus mechanism and offloading smart contract execution to the Facet Virtual Machine, it seeks to reduce gas fees and increase transaction throughput without compromising security.

Q: How Can I Participate in Facet's Ecosystem?

Users can participate by interacting with the Facet network through Ethereum transactions that include Facet payloads. Developers can build and deploy applications on Facet, taking advantage of its EVM compatibility and the suite of foundational applications provided.

Q: What Sets Facet Apart from Competitors?

Facet's unique architecture eliminates centralized sequencers, uses a native gas token minted algorithmically, and manages upgrades through social consensus and hard forks. These features ensure true decentralization, security, and user sovereignty, distinguishing it from other Layer 2 solutions.

Q: What are the Risks Associated with Facet?

While Facet's design aims to minimize risks associated with centralization and control, users should be aware that, as with any blockchain protocol, there are inherent risks such as potential vulnerabilities in smart contracts and the evolving nature of the technology. However, Facet's architecture and commitment to decentralization work to mitigate many common risks.

Facet

Facet is a secure, decentralized, and affordable computation platform. Facet is not a blockchain. Rather, it is a new way of thinking about and using blockchains, specifically Ethereum. All Facet transactions are Ethereum transactions, and all Facet data is stored on Ethereum. However by shifting the interpretation of these transactions and data, Facet enables user to use Ethereum in a way that is far cheaper than the "intended mode," without sacrificing security or decentralization.

What is Facet?

Facet is an Ethereum scaling solution designed to be fully decentralized and maintain 100% uptime. It operates as a unique rollup that cannot be censored or shut down, leveraging Ethereum's consensus mechanism while offloading smart contract execution to the Facet Virtual Machine (FVM). This approach ensures reduced gas fees and increased transaction throughput without compromising security.

How Does Facet Work?

Facet processes transactions directly on Ethereum's mainnet by embedding them as data payloads within Ethereum transactions. This method ensures immediate finality and uptime, as Facet transactions achieve finality in direct sync with Ethereum’s own finality. The protocol uses its native gas token, the Facet Compute Token (FCT), which is minted algorithmically when users burn ETH on Ethereum L1.

What Makes Facet Unique?

Facet stands out due to its immutable sequencing, native gas token, and fork-based upgrades. Transactions are sequenced by Ethereum validators, eliminating centralized sequencers common with other Layer 2 solutions. The use of FCT as a native gas token removes the need for canonical bridges, enhancing security. Additionally, upgrades are managed through social consensus and hard forks, ensuring true user sovereignty.

Who Are the Founders of Facet?

Specific information about the founders of Facet is not readily available in the provided sources.

Where to Buy FCT?

As of the current information, FCT is minted algorithmically when users burn ETH on Ethereum L1 and is used within the Facet network for gas fees. There is no indication that FCT is available for trading on external exchanges.

FCT Price Prediction

Currently, there are no available forecasts from reliable experts or publications regarding the price of FCT.

How to buy FCT?

To obtain FCT, users interact with the Facet network by sending Ethereum transactions that include Facet payloads. The ETH spent on L1 gas is converted into FCT, which is then used as gas within the Facet network. This process is handled in the background, and users typically do not need to actively manage their FCT balance.
